Privacy Policy

Website analytics
This website uses PostHog to measure page views and App Store clicks, including page paths and campaign labels. Without consent (or after you decline), measurement runs in PostHog cookieless anonymous mode: no analytics cookies or localStorage identifiers; visitor counting uses a privacy-preserving server-side hash. After you allow analytics, anonymous identifiers stay in memory for the current page session only. Browser storage remembers your choice. URL query parameters and fragments are removed from events. Session recording, heatmaps, and automatic interaction collection stay disabled in both modes. PostHog processes these events and associated network data. You can change or withdraw consent through Analytics preferences in the footer. In-app inventory and document contents stay within the app.
Introduction
ExpireMate ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.
Information We Collect
ExpireMate stores the data you provide directly on your device: product names, expiration dates, production dates, tags, and photos you take or upload. We do not collect personal identity information, location data, or browsing history for those items. Separately, the app may send anonymous product analytics events (such as first open, item added with source ai_scan or manual, paywall opened, purchase success/failure/restore, reminder notification opened, and review prompt requested). Those events do not include item names, photos, notes, or other personal content. If you subscribe to ExpireMate Pro, your purchase is handled entirely by Apple and we do not have access to your payment information.
How We Use Your Data
Your item data is used solely to provide the core functionality of the app — tracking expiration dates, sending reminder notifications, and generating waste statistics. Anonymous analytics help us understand feature usage and improve the product. We do not sell, share, or monetize your inventory contents.
Data Storage & Sync
All your inventory data is stored locally on your device and synced via Apple's iCloud service. We do not operate our own servers to store your personal inventory. iCloud sync is managed entirely by Apple and is subject to Apple's privacy policy. Anonymous analytics events are processed by PostHog as described below.
Third-Party Services
ExpireMate uses Apple's iCloud for data sync and Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases. When you use the AI scanning feature, product photos are sent to a third-party AI service for recognition. These images are processed in real-time and are not stored by the AI service provider. The app uses PostHog for anonymous product analytics; session recording and person profiles are disabled, and inventory contents are not sent.
In-app analytics
ExpireMate uses PostHog to measure anonymous product events inside the iOS app. Events cover first launch, adding items (with source only), opening the paywall, Pro purchase success/failure/restore, opening a reminder notification, and requesting the system review prompt. We do not send item names, photos, notes, or other personal content. Person profiles, session recording, and automatic screen/interaction capture stay disabled. PostHog processes these events and associated network data under its privacy policy.
AI Product Recognition
When you use the AI scanning feature, your product photos are sent to an external AI API for analysis. The photos are used solely for extracting product information (name, dates) and are not retained after processing. No personally identifiable information is included with these requests.
Children's Privacy
ExpireMate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
